2010 Street Stock Rules

To be used in conjunction with 2010 general rules


The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide  fair and orderly conduct  and establish minimum requirements for all racing events held at Columbia Motor Speedway (CMS). By participating in any event at CMS, all participants are deemed to having received and will comply to all rules, regulations, safety procedures and all other items listed in these general rules and also in the rules set forth for the specific racing class that you  register in. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators or others. Racing is a dangerous sport. Injury and/or death can and will occur. Columbia Motor Speedway requires minimum safety requirements be followed to reduce these risks but in no way guarantees such injuries or death will not result from racing activities. When registering for a event at CMS you will be required to sign a release waiver to participate. It is your responsibility to read and understand what you are signing. A copy can be provided at your request.

The track officials have the right to permit minor deviation from any of the rules or regulations herein or impose any further restrictions that in the race directors opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from such deviations allowed. All interpretations or deviation  of any rules or regulations is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final.




COMPETING MODELS:

Open to all American made , steel bodied hard top sedans or coupes. No station wagons, jeeps, four wheel drives, convertibles, pick-up trucks, or transaxle type cars will be allowed.
Minimum manufacturer advertised wheelbase of 101”

TIRES AND WHEELS:

Steel Wheels only.  Any width or offset up to a 10" maximum width.
Any brand new 8" tire allowed
Any brand 10" take-off is allowed. Take-offs are broadly defined as a tire that been RACED by a car in a upper class and have little to no race value left to a member of that class.  Take-off is a subjective term and is left to the discretion of CMS tech.  
No soaking or treating tires with any compound altering chemicals.

BODIES:

All flammable materials must be removed from car.
All glass (except front windshield) and plastic must be removed.
All door handles, chrome strips and ornaments must be removed.
It is mandatory to have a full dashboard if stock dash is removed.
Cars must have steel roof, rear quarter panels and deck lid. Bodies must retain stock looking appearance.
Aluminum doors are allowed.
Fiberglass or plastic front fenders and hood allowed.
Aftermarket front and rear bumper covers are allowed.
Lightening of hood, doors, trunk lid, roof and inner fenders allowed as long as body keeps stock looking appearance.
Must have stock or fabricated front firewall. 20 gauge minimum steel.( full length from side to side and completely seal to drivers compartment from the engine compartment.)
Must have stock driver’s floor pan from front firewall to  rear firewall. ( Rear firewall must be located at rear seat back location)
Must have a complete center hump section.
Rear firewall must extend completely from side to side of car. Must seal trunk area completely from drivers compartment. 20 gauge minimum steel.
All cars must have complete bodies.
A stock or aftermarket non-adjustable rear spoiler is allowed. Maximum of 7” tall measured height from the deck lid. Must be mounted centered on the rear of the car. Must be mounted no further forward than the trailing edge of the stock trunk.
Trunk lid must be able to be opened for inspection purposes.
Use of aftermarket or hand made front air dams and nose pieces (in front of fenders) allowed.
Hood must fit in original position and maintain original configuration.
Hood must be secured with either 4 hood pins (one located in each corner of the hood) or 2 hood pins (one located on each front corner) and 2 hinges. Must be quick release pin style. NO all thread and nuts.
Front radiator protection hoops are allowed. Cannot extend any further forward than the centerline of the front bumper.
Front bumpers may be reinforced  No excessive bumpers will be allowed.  The intent of this rule is to allow MINOR reinforcement for car and driver protection. CMS will not allow bumpers deemed to be out of the intent of this rule. Tech officials decision is final.
Windshield is mandatory. 1/8” minimum Lexan replacement is allowed. Rear windows and wing windows allowed but must be 1/8” Lexan.
Windshield (glass) must have 4 retaining tabs bolted or welded outside the car. 2 on top and 2 on the bottom. Lexan windshield must be securely riveted in place. Absolutely no plexiglass allowed.
Windshield opening must have two (three recommended ) vertical braces inside the windshield. Must be at approximate centerline of the windshield opening.  Must be bolted or welded to the roof and dash.
Interior rear view mirrors allowed. One left side mirror is allowed. Must be 4” round and not protrude outside the bodyline of the car.
Bumpers must be mounted in stock locations. Front and rear bumpers must be strapped to quarter panels or fenders. 1/8” minimum strap.
Side nerf bars allowed. Must turned in towards car as to not create a puncture hazard. Round tubing required.
3100 lb minimum weight for all cars running a 365 or less cubic inch engine. 3300 lb minimum weight for all cars running a 366 to 405 cubic inch engine. 3500 lb minimum for all cars running a 406 or larger cubic inch engine.


SUSPENSION:

All suspension must remain in stock locations.
Tie rods may be reinforced.
Rear control arms must remain stock and in stock location. Reinforcing allowed.
Aftermarket bushings allowed.
Heavy duty ball joints allowed. NO adjustable ball joints.
Strut cars must retain factory strut/shock towers. Towers may not be leaned, angled or moved in any direction. All original factory mounting points must be maintained. The top center portion of the towers inside of the factory mounting points may me removed. Adjustable plates may be used as long as plates are mounted on tower at original factory mounting points.
Frames must remain stock for make and model of car . Sub frame connectors allowed.
4” minimum height. Measured without driver.
Wheelbase must measure within 1” plus or minus of manufacturers advertised spec.
Aftermarket or performance springs are allowed. Springs must remain in stock location.
No weight jacks or jacking bolts allowed.
No weight controlling devices of any sort allowed.
Steel leaf springs only. NO mono leaf or composite allowed.
Any stock mounted steel shock permitted.
Cars must functioning brakes on all 4 corners of the car.
No drilled or slotted rotors. OEM replacement only.
Rear disk allowed with stock OEM type calipers.
Aftermarket pedals and master cylinders allowed.
Brake bias valve permitted on front OR rear brakes. NOT both.  
Rear ends must be stock production OEM. Ford 9” allowed in any make/model of car.  full floaters allowed. Locked rear ends allowed. Welded or spooled only. No limited slip, Posi-type rear ends allowed. NO GM lockers, Detroit lockers, Gold tracks etc. allowed.
NO cambered rear end s allowed.
Lug studs must be ½” diameter minimum. (5/8” strongly recommended). Lug nuts must me open. No acorn style nuts.
Wheels must be steel. No bead lock wheels permitted.
Numbers: All cars must have legible numbers on Doors and roof. 18” minimum height for door markings and 24” minimum  on roof. Roof Numbers must face the scoring tower. (Right side up. Standing on the passenger side of the car and looking across the roof.
Cars may be required to run a track sticker package at CMS discretion.


ENGINE and TRANSMISSION:

Stock production V-8 cast iron engines only. Must match model (by manufacturer) GM-GM, Ford to Ford etc.
No dry sump engines.
Vortec block allowed. No bowtie blocks.
Any cubic inch engine allowed. Must meet weight requirements for engine displacement.
OEM cast iron cylinder heads only. Vortec heads allowed. Add 100 lbs to car minimum for angle plug heads.
Number one spark plug no further back than centerline of the lower ball joint.
Headers are allowed. (conventional only. NO 180 or Cross over headers allowed.)
Muffler required. Exhaust must terminate farther back than the drivers seat.
Aluminum intake allowed.
Single two barrel 500 cfm maximum carburetor . choke horn can be removed. Choke plate may be removed.
Maximum 1 1/2” tall carb spacer/ adapter allowed.
NO exotic fuels or fuel additives allowed. NO NOS.
Must have air cleaner at all times. NO foam air cleaners allowed.
Must have distributor mounted in stock location. NO crank triggers or magnetos.
MSD box allowed. CMS reserves the right to switch out any electronics at their discretion.
NO traction control devices allowed.
Oil coolers permitted. Cannot be mounted in drivers compartment.
Radiator catch can is required
Water is the only coolant allowed. NO antifreeze. Water wetter allowed.
Transmission must be stock unaltered OEM. Aftermarket heavy duty sprags, center supports and clutches(automatic trans) allowed. NO racing transmissions.
Automatics must have a functioning torque converter. NO lock up converters allowed.
Manual transmissions must have stock cast flywheel.
Single disc clutches only. NO light weight or multi disc clutches allowed.
ALL gears must function correctly.
All cars must have a scatter shield. Aftermarket SFI approved recommended. Hand made allowed. Must be constructed of ¼” steel plate minimum. Must cover path between bell housing and driver.
Drive shaft must be steel. Must be one piece. NO aluminum or carbon fiber allowed.
Drive line must have two 360 degree hoops. Minimum of ¼” x 1” flat bar. One located within 12” of each u-joint. Must be fastened to floor or frame. NO chain.


ROLL CAGE:

A Nascar style roll cage is mandatory. Minimum 1 ¾” x .095 round ERW or DOM tubing. See attached diagram for general cage design.
Minimum three drivers door bars with two bends in each bar.
Minimum two passenger door bars with two bends in each bars.
Must have bracing between all door bars.
Roll cage must attached to frame not floor pan on full framed cars.  Floor Plates must be added to non full framed cars.
Minimum 1/8” steel sheet to cover outside of drivers door bars required. Must cover all area from bend to bend in the bars.
All over head joint and drivers door bar joints must be gusseted. CMS strongly recommends gusseting all joints.
All roll bars driver can contact must be padded with commercially available roll bar padding. NO foam water pipe insulation.


SAFETY:

Commercially manufactured fuel cell is required.
Fuel cell must have a minimum of 8” of ground clearance.
Must have roll over check valve.
Must vent to the outside of the car.
Fuel cell must be enclosed in a container constructed of a minimum of 20 gauge steel.
Cell must be securely mounted. Subject to tech officials judgment
Any rubber fuel line running through the drivers compartment must be encased in steel pipe that extends though the front and rear firewall.
Must have a commercially manufactured aluminum race seat securely mounted to roll cage. CMS recommends padded rib protectors and seat leg extensions.  
Must have commercially manufactured 5 point quick release racing harness. Cannot be more than 6 years old. Must have date tags still attached. Belts that are current are still subject to inspection. Belts that display fraying , rips or UV light damage will not pass tech no matter what date they are punched.
Must have SFI approved window net in good condition. (Subject to tech officials judgment)
No electric Fuel pumps allowed.
Helmets must be Snell 95 or newer rated. Snell 2005 recommended. No Motorcycle helmets will me allowed. Helmets cannot have visible impact damage or be missing any components or interior foam or parts. Helmets must have rating sticker attached.
Driver must wear a SFI approved racing fire suit. Must be free of damage .
Drivers must wear fire rated shoes and gloves.
All cars must carry a ABC rated chemical fire extinguisher within easy reach of the driver. Must be securely mounted. NO duct tape allowed.
Cars must have a master battery disconnect switch located behind the drivers seat and easily accessible from the outside of the car. Must kill all power to the car. Window net cannot block access.
